BBQ and Fete, 2025

Bank Holiday, Monday, 25th August saw BBQ and Village Fete at the Village Hall and in the play park.

It was a lovely day enjoyed by many with the play park busy with residents and visitors of all ages. The bric-a-brac and the gift stall were well subscribed and all enjoying the live music delivered with gusto, as always, by “Shades”. Others were fascinated by Carol Mancheter’s selection of very still furry animals. Many children, and a few adults, enjoyed a round of pass the parcel, a three-legged race and showed remarkable skills in the wellie wanging. Youngsters who had never wellie-wanged before threw amazing distances (uphill), including an unprecedented 23’9” from four-year-old Ruan, using a “Leeds Lob” no less. Unfortunately, we had few trophies so it was a medal only. Look out for him, and Sophie in the future, though!

Outright winner, by spades, was Rich, who used a Sheffield Sling to propel the size 11 to the far reaches of the play park, setting off car alarms and stunning two otherwise engaged pigeons. If Rich visits again, we’re gonna need a bigger playpark.

Thank you to everyone who came and enjoyed themselves in the sunshine. Many had to dive into the cool of the village hall for a cake and cuppa. It was good to see so many new residents and over £300 was raised for the Village Hall. Huge praise and thanks to everyone who helped make this happen.
